I as a Sophisticated New Yorker visited your quaint Long Island yesterday, enjoying the beautiful weather.
After stopping at my mother's in Westbury (getting there on Stewart Avenue), I went down to Massapequa by means of Newbridge Road, Jerusalem Road, Wantagh Avenue, Jerusalem Avenue, and Parkside Boulevard. I then took 107 back northward to the L.I.E. service road, which I followed all the way back into the City.
Once in the City, I eventually picked up Commonwealth Boulevard, which I took to Hillside Avenue. Then Hillside west to where it hits Jamaica Avenue; and that home to Woodhaven.
It was a very pleasant 60-mile round trip on a beautiful day.
One cannot fail to notice how wonderfully flat the South Shore is. By contrast, the L.I.E. service road, while very useful on account of its long stretches between lights, is far enough north that it is affected by the hills that one finds up there.
