Yes.
Good quality tyres are more comfortable, but wider ones even more so. I refuse to ride anything below 28 mm, both for comfort, poor surface grip and convenience of not having to pump the tyres up often and to a high pressure.

I traded my road bike half a year ago, but am planning on getting another one. I'll certainly look for one that can fit 37 mm wide tyres, even if I end up riding the slightly lighter 28s on paved roads.
