Realistically, the difference between a 622 and a 584 wheel is only 19mm on the only radius that matters (hub down). Jan Heine and otherd in a largely intellectually dishonest exercise wanted revive the irrelevant dead wheel size.
I've never met a single 650b cult member that was happy with 584 as a wheel size without having to call it 650b. The wheels don't roll as fast, don't roll over road imperfections as well, and in general are just a nuanced dead end for cyclists to obsess over. Fools gold plain and simple.
Conform to my will or else!!!!!
Jeesh, why the hate for
650b? I've gone that route too on one of my bikes.
Still a work in progress but this is a comfy, and yes still fast

, ride. I took advantage of the characteristics of this frame to convert it over for a very cushy, stable ride that can handle large, soft tires and fenders. The racks for light touring are next.
The "don't roll over road imperfection as well" statement is just plain ridiculous. Unless you mean something like a log or maybe a dead cow in the road. But yeah, cracks, small holes, etc with cushy
650b tires are handled some much better than most 700c tires. I mean honestly, are you serious??!!

OMG, guess I better keep calling them
650b so I can stay happy with the decision. Wouldn't want to call it something else and suddenly be upset with my choice.

I mean jeesh, I love hot dogs but if I started calling them 584's i guess I'd start hating them too.
Anyway, for the OP I really can't help with the wheels. I had some light but strong Velocity wheels built for mine. Not that cheap though. They were around $400 if I remember correctly. But I wanted something I know would hold up under a small load as i tour the countryside.
Good luck with your conversion. Welcome to the cult!!
