Please ignore mtnbike, our now-resident troll/pedant/thread killer. The larger your tire (greater width = greater tire circumference) the less bottom bracket height will affect the conversion. Personally, I don't think that cheaper rims are a good value when building a bike -- generally heavier, and IMO the worst place to have additional weight is the wheelset. But, YMMV.
