The cheap Weinmann rims are, in my opinion, strong enough and light enough and attractive enough. This is not enough to recommend them, though. The problem is they don't fit the tires very well. Every time I mount a tire I go through a long repetition of the steps: thoroughly lube the bead with dish soap, inflate to low pressure, massage, massage, massage, pump up some more, massage some more, and hope it pops into place. You won't know until is back on the bike and you spin the wheel. It's a major pain in the neck, and I often give up with incomplete results.

If the Soma or Velo Orange rims fit the tires better (I don't know, but I've been told), they're worth the extra money.
