Trek also bought lemond bikes which have a lot of bontrager stuff i think now. Also i heard a guy asking for trek jockey wheel for his trek derailleur. trek have become the new shimano.remember in the early 90s when people began asking for shimano bikes!!!!! where people think that just cos something has a shimano groupset it must be ace ( not knowing that alivio and acero are light years away from xtr or dura ace). like the police in manchester ride "trek" bikes but they are low end 3700 or even lower but with a shimano groupset.woahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!! god knows what they layman would think if they saw CAMPAGNOLO mirage!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this componentry craze started in the 80s with indexing and SLR led people away from the idea of getting a great frame nad wheels and concentrating on the "how many gears does your bike have" fervour. Kids ask me alway in england "how many gears does your bike have". when i say 20 they wince and look disappointed cos their 99 pound full suspension halfords junk bikes have 21 or 24 gears.
