I doubt you're getting an accurate read even with digital calipers, the inner seat tube diameter is notoriously difficult to measure but a 26.0 would be very odd for a frame of this era. I'd start by guessing 26.8 and be prepared for anything in the range up to 27.2. This is very likely made from some sort of popular tubing of the day: Tange, True Temper something like that, right? Any sign of a tubing decal or remnants?
OK, found the flickr album and this is Ritchey LOGIC steel alloy tubing, custom drawn for him by Tange...I'll STILL go with something between 26.8 and 27.2 as the most popular seat post choices for Tange steel back in this era.
Thanks for the advice, the folks at Ritchey didn't have alot to add but I can pick up used 26.8 and 27.0 posts locally and try them out according to Sheldon's database of seat posts the late 90s Ritchey Road frames were 27.0 The tubing by the way is as you say Ritchey Logic - Super Tubing by Tange
