1000 bucks is a pretty good pricerange for a roadbike.

Thing is, once you go below the $700 mark, you are making serious compromises, usually in the wheelset.

Even the most basic STI equipped roadbike is around $450...add good wheels and you are easily into the 750 range....add nice wheels and you are already at the $1000 point. Wheels make a world of difference, from safety all the way down to ride comfort....also lower maintenance, being more likely to stay trued.

The other advantage is weight...will you have to carry this bike up flights of stairs?
