your old frame is a narrow rear, should be 126mm between the inner faces of the rear dropouts... measure it.

that said, the frame SHOULD accept a 6 or 7 speed freewheel...

IF you find that the rear dropouts are only 120 mm, you will have to have the frame reset to 126 mm by an experienced mechanic to allow use of the 6 or 7 speed freewheels.

The hub will also need to be set up for a 6 or 7 speed, if it is a 120mm axle now... and then, the wheel DISH will need to be reset, since resetting the hub to 126 will make the rim offcenter.

if it's a QUICK RELEASE type axle, you will probably need a longer axle, too.

still want to change from a 5 speed, to a 6 speed freewheel?
