- Appreciation for US made frames such as Trek, Schwinn (not all), and Cannondale (aluminum)
- Hand built craftsmanship in many cases.
- Racing heritage of certain marques; Peugeot, Eddy Merckx, Colnago, De Rosa, Bianchi, etc.
- We're not racing.
- Roads are old and crappy, at least in the northeast and midwest. Steel ride quality is hard to improve upon, whether aluminum or CF.

- Wild paint jobs vs. Nascar style decals on today's CF.
- Cost and value considerations.
- Collectability / hobby fun.
