Nearly 500 turn out for Century ride
Cars and trucks laden with high-end road bikes dotted the Lebanon High School parking lot Saturday morning, while their riders, clad in bike shorts, cycling caps and clip-in bike shoes, milled about in a light rain.
They were gearing up for the 25th annual Strawberry Century, founded and hosted by the Santiam Spokes recreational bike club. It's a 100-mile bike ride that winds through the back roads of Linn County, through Brownsville, over to Sweet Home, up to Lacomb, and back around to the high school.
