This bike came in the other day. I've never seen a bar setup like this one, nor have I ever seen such a LARGE mixte frame. Bike looked to be completely stock,
even the old bottle dynamo AND front/rear lights work. (Rear light is on the back of the rear fender.) You've gotta be moving at a pretty good clip to get them to work well though. Not to mention the freaking dynamo sounds like it's going to explode at any minute (sounds like a turbine.)
It measured 57 cm C-T of the seat tube. That's... big for a mixte right?
Pretty nice bike regardless. No idea what year it is or even what model it is. Loved the handlebar setup. Very comfortable to ride despite the steel rims. If I had room in my garage it'd be there, if only for sh*ts and giggles.
We had a hell of a time finding a cotter pin to replace the horribly mangled one we pulled out of the DS crank. Those pins are ever so slightly a smaller diameter than the large majority of the ones we had...
Also had a super old trek 830 come in today. Older than the typical ones you see from the late 80s and early 90s. This one had smaller numbers had "antelope" on the top tube. It had a "tubing" sticker, but only said 830 on it. And a newer (90s?) 930 come in as well, all original, needed a replacement shifter. I think we "fixed" a 950 as well, but it needed a new fork and the only one we had around that would fit was a rigid, so the value of the bike went from ~$150 to ~$110. I think the 950 has Reynolds 531.
And yes, the univega in the first picture DOES have an awesome paintjob... (Black/red speckled... I love the old univega and diamondback paintjobs of the 80s.)
