Get an affordable adjustable stem. You can sell it later, or you can keep it in your toolbox for future bike fitment tests. If you don't really want to get an adjustable stem, then shop around for a cheap fixed stem. I got a shorter stem for like $9 at my LBS when I was going through fitment issues with my road bike.

I don't think gloves is the solution here. If you can only ride that bike with gloves, then I don't think that fixes the issue. You should be able to comfortably ride the bike with or without gloves. For longer rides, sure a glove can help, but your comfort shouldn't solely depend on having gloves during a ride. While I always ride with my gloves, I do so for protection in case I fall off the bike. The extra padding on the gloves is just a bonus for me.

Does the FX3 come with the Bontrager Isozone handlebars with the isozone inserts? I've found that those handlebars are so comfy I can ride them with or without gloves.
