Seems possible. The frame of my nominally 1989 Ironman Expert was manufactured in 1988, according to the serial number. But it has the smoke blue/white graphics of the '89.
Which causes me to wonder whether all nominally 1989 Ironman models had the slightly different geometry
described here, or whether there were variations as this was the last year the Ironman was made.
Wow, thinking out loud. Very interesting point and something worth considering. @
fleslider has already pointed out that there is a difference between the expert and master frames. I wonder if he's thought of that. My Ironman mind is blown.
