But should our state and national parks do the same?
It doesn't take many fingers and toes to figure out where all those RVs on sale lots go.
The RV industry predicts sales of 400,000+ RVs this year. Times 20 makes 8 million.
And when you drop $250,000 on a RV, you sure as hell want to take it to Yellowstone.
Do you know that Yellowstone NP no longer permits Adventure Cycling tours to travel thru?
Or that they hand out brochures to individual cyclists at the gate saying that cycling in the park is dangerous?
And that there is little that they can do about it given environmental constraints and funding?
But they can pave pull-thru 40-foot parking spaces for RVs. Hmmmm.
State parks are often even less willing to consider non-motorized users. (Except the Pacific Coast)
Meanwhile, Fred and Doris can hardly squeeze through the door of their quarter-million tank.
Yeah, it's a rant.
But I am tired of seeing public parks being turned into parking lots.
People unhitch their Subarus to drive the 100 yards to the shower building.
(Which has 12 parking places out front even though the camping loop has only 25 sites.)
Like I said - I'm glad I live in Wyoming.
