Many states have raised user fees rather then taxes, so the daily fees here in NY and in Maine, NH and Vermont, where I camp wash year, have gone up steadily. Not huge increases, Maine was $18 for out of state at state campgrounds, about 10 years ago, I think it's up to $22.

NY really pisses me off as they require you to use Reserve America if booking on-line, which functions like TicketMaster and charges its own fee, thus it gets pricy and no need for it.

Both Maine and NY DEC sites do have good tenting areas, Maine state park tent areas are isolated from the RV's.
