If the OP is concerned about comfort, take the bike to a coop and ask them to raise the stem as high as it will go (to the minimum insertion line). Buy some nice THICK, cushy bar tape. (Lizard skins DSP 3.2 is expensive, but very comfy.)
Saddles are very personal. Hopefully the coop will have a bunch for your girlfriend to try out. You will never be able to predict a comfy saddle for her.
