What? Not This internet. Nobody here Ever exaggerates ... particularly not the companies who make the products they so desperately need people to buy, and even more certainly not the people who fell for the advertising and bought the "latest and greatest."
The only thing I could see which might make the bike you bought "wrong" would be fit. if it doesn't fit ... bad purchase. Otherwise ... point the stem downward and you will have the same riding position as a more "aggressive" bike.
Oh ... I guess there is another situation where your current bike wouldn't work ... if others' opinions mattered more than the facts of your life. I know (though I don't understand) that some folks would rather not ride than ride a bike with spacers, or a tall head tube and a downward pointing stem ... or anything except the "cool kids" Tour de France race bike appearance.
If riding means more than image ... ride the bike, and base your decision on the actual bike and how you ride it.
Back before the internet, see ... there was this thing called "Real Life" .... i think they stopped making it but if you shop online you might find a some new old stock somewhere. Try it ... even though it isn't "cool."
