Users should have control over their content, including hosting their own images and not allowing everything to be silo'd here at BF. As I mentioned before, access to content uploaded to BF is entirely based on the motives of IB. Decentralization was a fundamental aspect of how the Web was designed...be the canonical source of your own information.
tldr; hosting images outside of BF is a good thing
