For those of you who don't wash you gloves regularly (which I am often guilty of) , here is what I want you to do: Fill the kitchen sink with several inches of hot water and leave the gloves to soak for a hour or so. Then come back and check out the water. It will likely gross you out. I just got back from a two-week tour. Maybe I will soak my gloves and take a few photos.
