I can't comment on the current condition of this road. I've ridden lots of 'closed roads'. They are often great rides and I would have no hesitation in riding this one. I see the press release makes it clear it is now a bicycle and hiking path. Plus, at 3.3 miles what have you got to lose? Go around any obstacles or turn around.
With no traffic it should be sensational! I may try and get down that way this season.
We didn't know about that page at the time. It is why I was asking.
When I was there, it was COMPLETELY overgrown. I don't remember seeing as much as a beaten down path. For all I know the path has completely fallen into the ocean. I would check with the folks at Klamath before making the climb unless you just want to go for a ride up there. It is a beautiful ride till you get cut off by the closure. Must be a heck of a place to be in prison.
