If that saved people 100 times more money or allowed them to complete a task 100 times quicker it would be a fair argument, but they don't. Laptops serve the same function, do the same job as when they first came on the market. Actually they are slower in real terms today, depending on the applications you are running, and they crash and are prone to viruses just like those 10 years ago.
It used to cost $5000 for a decent laptop, then the price came down and down until they reached the price point of around $2000 for a decent one and have stayed at that level. That is the fixed price, due to optimized manufacturing and competition factors. They won't go any lower and you will never see a SD car under $100,000.
