Shift quality is the same when upshifting or downshifting between the two largest cogs as it is when shifting between the two smallest cogs. I set up the RD in the normal manner, using the smallest cog as the reference point. It surely doesn't hurt that a SIS RD's jockey pulley has some lateral play built into the design.
