Add unnecessary cost to most bicyclists, who don't have a legitimate reason to have it.

QR compresses the bearings...not good...add an extra layer of complexity and failure mode.
Since the QR skewer was invented in 1927 an American sold road bikes over a certain quality level have had skewers since the '70s, I fail to see your point.

As for compressing bearings, proper technique and bearing adjustment solves the problem.
