It does that even in clean, repacked state. I need to check the surfaces.


That sounds a little bit like a growing safety issue. Can wheel bearings end up blocking the wheel to the extend that I would go over the handlebars?
what type of brakes does your bike have? i still think it's the brake.

and i seriously doubt the bearings could send you over the bars while riding...

did you notice ANY marks/shiny spots on the AXLE when you took the hub apart?
