And people have too much disposable income.
Add unnecessary cost to most bicyclists, who don't have a legitimate reason to have it.

QR compresses the bearings...not good...add an extra layer of complexity and failure mode.
It's probably just a matter of people wanting the pro's stuff. I have a QR on my hybrid Peugeot, but when I had a flat there was no mechanic running to me holding a spare with inflated tyre. Without that I don't see the disadvantage of using a wrench.

And it got difficult to get the wheel in tight, I didn't really use that bike for going fast, but pulling the wheel against the stay is annoying. A friend had the same problem recently, but with his road bike at speed and he hurt his knee in the crash that caused.
