The only time you wouldn't use grease is if you were putting it on a rotor or maybe rack bolt where you would use a thread locking compound or with titanium where you want to use anti-seize (which will stain so you know where gloves and garbage clothes and wipe it away quick) or crabons where you want to use carbon paste.
Also with any bolt or greased part it generally never hurts to occasionally take it out and clean it and regrease it. Making sure parts don't seize is a good way to go, just don't be hamfisted with it and overtighten or strip heads or threads. If you feel resistance back it out and start over (though with threadlocker you will feel a bit of resistance but still make sure it is lined up properly so you don't strip it).
Dah threadlock on disc bolt cogs! If I had known this earlier I probably wouldn't have destroyed my old American Classics hub leading into this new build! Alright good info. Just got home I'll work on this tonight
