They do take a bit of force before you strip them... and then you think you may have done something wrong. Look.. I was just interested in your thread because as I have mentioned I have trashed multiple cranks... Picture shows one I trashed about 6 hours ago using a similar tool to yours. Perhaps it looks like its threads have been stripped. I also trashed the other side using the same tool.

Everything I use that tool on gets trashed.

I finally, as a result of your prod, got bored. I just bought an ICE Tool version. $9.00 versus $14.00, I am Cheap but Fingers Crossed.

Of course the bike I am working on is a piece of rubbish that has been sat about in the wind, rain and that white stuff that comes out of the tap but is seriously more evil...

Whatever.
