I have a STI Mirror on my shifter. I have one on my tandem and single bikes. You won't get hit if you USE a mirror and are aware of what they are doing behind you. You can always drive in the ditch if you SEE them coming at you. Otherwise you are saying I trust people driving behind me. I don't think so.
