What advantages does a rack have? Right now I'm carrying a backpack, rough guess about 10 pounds, maybe a bit more. That's not counting the 2 pounds of water (one quart) I have tucked in it in case my primary bottle runs out.
I will definitely take the advice and put a lot of ice in the bottle before starting though, thanks.
I crossed my fingers and rode today. Stopped before my usual stopping point just so I wasn't pushing myself and drank a lot of water. I planned on a second stop, but ended up not needing it.
Note to self though, when rain is expected, take the memory foam seat cushion off the bike and take it indoors. Whoops! At least the seat cushion was well designed enough that I didn't feel my rear being wet until after I got off the bike at home.
