I got see Kenny Roberts at Laguna Seca a couple of times. Not knowing much of anything about riding a motorcycle fast didn't diminish the fact that even I could see he was a great, way above everyone else at the time. I saw him coming down (what was then) turn seven, "hanging off", bike almost flat on it's side (as it looked), and he was riding around other people like they were parked. Just so impressive!
I knew a mechanic in one of the local motorcycle shops back then who raced flat track, and had competed against Roberts on many occasions. He had a photo of himself holding off Roberts in one of the turns. I remember him telling me that racing with Roberts was "comfortable". That says a lot!
