Choosing pedals and shoes isn't like getting married. it's easy enough to change if it doesn't work out.

Since you already own shoes sitting in a closet, why not give them a try. If it doesn't work for you, you're no worse off than if you bought new shoes today, except for a bit of wear on shoes before they go back into the closet.
