I've got one of those. Much easier to just top them off at the trail head before I leave with the frame pump, though. Before I bought a floor pump, I used the Road Morph for my top offs. If one doesn't want a lot of gear, it worked quite well in place of a full size.
There are multiple solutions to this problem, and yours is fine, but if you're driving to the trailhead and want to top off your tires at the trailhead, can't you fit the floor pump in your car?
I want one of those Morphs. Let's see what they sell for...
