I watched a guy struggle to go up a little incline on a fix gear the other day with his hands right next to the stem on really short bars. It was all I could do to keep a straight face. For me it will always be drop bars, road or pista (I actually like pista bars better for climbing) with both brakes and real levers/hoods. In other words, serious road bikes.
