I've run that sort of setup only once, on the hybrid I use on gravel. And that was only because it came that way, with 700x35 front, 700x38 rear. I didn't even notice the difference until I decided to swap out those original chevron tread tires for Continental Speed Ride 700x42. Only when I went to remove the tires did I realize I'd been riding 'em "mismatched" for a couple of weeks. They rode fine. I just preferred the wider file tread Contis.
