I am surprised you don't see more vintage, but I'm sure there is a lot of go fast or climbing for Mount Lemmon.
Didn't get his number. Was just admiring the bike and the story. Didn't want to add a "you know, you're getting up there in years and when it comes time I'll be your vulture" vibe. Come to think of it, I didn't even introduce myself or get his name. Ugh. Whatta jerk I am.
And I'd say 95% of the bikes I see out on the road are either modern roadies out training or box-store hybrid/cruiser/mountain/bmx (generally with a 44oz drink or a cigarette in one hand). Of course, we've got so much sprawl here that I rarely pass anybody unless I'm out on the MUP. Maybe they're out there but it's just a paths-don't-cross situation. 531 is an uncommon sighting at best.
