You should not be worrying about scrimping after a hit and run, or even doing the work to fix the bike, especially if you were not at fault. If the driver was in the wrong then take your bike to a shop and get an estimate of the cost of repair with them doing the work and sourcing of appropriate replacement parts. Then submit to either your insurance company or the drivers. If for some reason there is not coverage then you can take still take the driver to small claims court. It does depend a bit on the accident details and who was at fault. But, since the driver didn't stop, but was identified, then they'll probably take the blame.

Nonetheless, a court case could be a lot of hassle for a $50 part.
