Saddle tilt and climbing--what do the pro's do?
I gifted myself the DVD's of Lance's first three TDF victories for Christmas. After scanning through some of the best stuff, I seemed to notice something about the mountain stages. Unless it's simply an optimal delusion, it seems there is a distinct upward tilt to the saddle of many of the riders in the mountain stages. I suppose you can make an argument that this forces the rider to remain farther back in the saddle while climbing, thereby getting more use out of different muscles, but I don't know that a professional would need the extra help remembering this. But I swear that I saw this "nose up" tendency on more than a few occasions, and even stopped the DVD several times to verify.
Anyone else notice this, or have a theory?
