I use a large u-lock through the back wheel and rear triangle. Never had an issue but also tend to lock up in high traffic areas. I know that's not an option for some folks. In those cases I'd echo removing the front wheel and taking with you or locking to rear. I do use the VO skewers and highly recommend them as well.
