Even the general cyclist here ride slow. Or maybe we just ride too fast. Oh well.
If you want to ride fast, stick to the road. Zipping in and out of people is bad manners, and violated the basics of every vehicular code out there, that one travels at a speed appropriate for conditions present.
One never knows what they will encounter on a MUP. I came around a corner yesterday to a whole family standing in the middle of the trail with a loaf of bread, feeding geese, must have been about a hundred birds with them. Didn't seem to occur to them that maybe the large grassy area immediately adjacent to the path might have been a better place for that.
