^ It must be one of those quirky Asian things. I am Vietnamese and throughout my entire childhood, my parents would keep all of the remote controls in the house wrapped in kitchen plastic wrap. We never questioned it and to this day I still don't fully understand why. It's probably partially because my father was a germaphobe and felt it would be quicker and easier to disinfect and wipe down the remotes while they are wrapped. I'm just glad the weird phobia didn't stick with me to where I feel the need to wrap our remotes now.
