Good lord I'm on my second mojito of the day (got off work early on account of the corporate takeover resulting in my schedule getting blocked off today).
I definitely need to stop at two.
Had a great recc on mojito rum from cycling coach of all people. Don Q Cristal rum. Way better than the Bacardi I had left over from some intern party.
Heathpack's mojito recipe/methodology:
Zest one lime and throw the zest in food processor with 1/4 cup white sugar. Whirl to make lime sugar.
Put 1 tablespoon lime sugar into a glass and add the juice of one lime. Stir until dissolved. Add a little crushed ice. Take 8 mint leaves and tear them in half. Rub cut surfaces on rim of glass and then throw the leaves onto the crushed ice. Muddle with a spoon for 15 seconds- no more or your drink will taste like grass (in a bad way). Add 1/4 cup rum and stir a bit. Add more crushed ice and stir again. Top off with around 2 tablespoons sparkling water and stir a bit more. Garnish with a mint sprig.
Perfect summer drink.
