The saga is more of a touring bike the Grand Rando is for the second part of its title. While you can tour on a rando bike they tend to do best with front loads and are typically sportier. If I had to choose I would go with the touring bike, the Saga. Though I will say Jan Heine does make me pine for a more geared rando bike (my Cinelli Work frame is currently built as a rando/cross bike with dynamo and front rack).
