Jan is spot on about not needing knobs for true gravel riding - that is, unpaved roads without loose dirt. Lowering your pressure, just keeping enough so you don't have pinch flats is a good tip. This pressure will vary depending on the weight of the rider.
I'd stay away from the extra light versions unless you pedal in the flyweight category.
Depends a lot on what you mean by "gravel". I ride the C&O Canal Towpath between Georgetown & Great Falls on Hetres with EL casings several times a year and have never had issues and I'm no flyweight at 0.1 tons.
