OK, I think I've hit the point of confusion... Too many darn options! I'd like to get some guidance from my fellow forum members. Basically, I'm looking to get a bike that has more tire clearance than my road bikes (I have a few classic and modern road bikes and the max tire clearance on them is 28). I'd like something that can venture onto fire roads... nothing too technical. I'd say 60% road/40% dirt. I'd prefer steel, but don't really have a bias against aluminum or carbon. I don't want a tank though. I feel that anything over 25 lbs is too burdensome for me to ride (I am only 5'9" and weigh 155 lbs). Tire clearance is important but don't need to get super fat. The feel of the bike is very important. I won't be riding with a load, other than what's in my jersey. I rode the Ritchey and it was very nice. The Exploit looks nice too. I really like the look/build of the Sequoia but it might be overkill. Any personal experience or preferences? Thanks in advance!
