Ride what you like, and ignore the "expectations" of others. Ride a "road bike" of any sort you want, at whatever pace---but then, you said you figured that out anyway, so ... carry on.

This is ridiculously lame, weak thinking. Buy the motorcycle you want and ride it the way you like, dressed how you choose.
This is sad as well as comical. The original "outlaw" Harley riders wore what they wore and road how they road to be individuals, to Not conform with the pack. They did not dress to make a statement or to signal some allegiance, they dressed as they chose to dress. if their bikes were loud it was generally because they used straight pipes for performance, not for volume.
They did what they did because they were not part of the pack. They were individuals.
Now a person is suggesting that you cannot ride a Harley unless you fit in with the pack.
Be an original-style Harley rider ... where whatever you happen to want and ride the way you want to ride---bicycle or motorcycle, skateboard or unicycle of walking.
Well, it works for me. Obviously, copying me would be antithetical.
