Hello everyone,
Recently I noticed some strange sound coming out of rear hub. I successfully removed and cleaned/lubed it keeping a freehub on. However, now it seems that problem is in the hub, because if I put the bike upside down and pedal, the pedals keep moving slowly when they should be idle (while coasting). Also, the sound coming from the freehub changed recently (it became much more quiet, but it does not run smooth). What I suspect is that some grease from the hub made its way into the freehub. Now I am trying to get it away. First of all, I can't identify my hubs. My bicycle is GT Transeo 4.0 2013 and all the website says about hubs is "All Terra Alloy 32h Freehub". I decided to just go ahead. I was greatly surprised when 10mm hex wrench did not fit. As I do not have 11/12mm hex wrenches I decided to put some hex wrench together, side by side, and get to know the size that way. To my surprise, the closest fit was with 6 and 5.5 mm wrenches (6 and 5 mm wrenches were a bit too small, and 7 and 5 mm wrenches were too big). Any advise on my freehub? What is the actual sizing and can I replace only the freehub for something Shimano (can't spend hundreds of $ for new hubs)?
Thank you for help!
PS That piece inside the hub is just some piece of cloth got there while cleaning.
