I fussed until finding Salsa Poco bars

My compact bar is similar to that one. This made access to the drops terrible.

I've rotated the bars down. Now the hoods seem too far away. I normally have my hands about an inch or two behind the hoods.

Has anyone moved their hoods closer on the bars and how did it work out? Of course, I just had my bars wrapped.

Any other solutions that worked for you would be appreciated.
I picked up used alloy Salsa Poco bars. Super short reach and very shallow drops. I was able to mount my brakes so the hoods' flat portion is parallel to the bar ramps for a perfectly level, smooth expanse between the tops, ramps and the hoods. I ride mainly on the hoods, ramps and tops for my short urban daily commute. When I set up various other bars the way I like my hoods, I couldn't get comfortable in the drops when fighting strong head winds. The Salsa Poco bars allow me to set nice easy to reach hoods like you want without making the drops uncomfortable. Lurk around to find a second hand pair of the Poco bars. I love mine so far.
