ZEBCO ACQUIRES SHIMANO

AP: Zebco, well-known maker of consumer economy fishing rods and reels, announced today that they have finalized a merger with Shimano of Japan, maker of bicycle parts and fishing gear.

The combined organization will have a capitalization of about $1.4 billion.

A spokesman for Zebmano said that they will immediately stop production of bicycle parts to move manufacturing capacity into the expanding sport fishing equipment sector of the leisure market. "With Americans becoming more obese and favoring stationary leisure activities, it only makes sense to stay ahead of market trends and get out of the shrinking bicycle exercise sector before it crashes," said Mo Piscia, taking questions for Zebmano at a press conference.
