Thanks everybody for your insight. I pulled the trigger and got a Vivoactive HR on Amazon for cheap (used-like new was a steal). I did a test run on an exercise bike and it tracked the whole time (only off by 1 or 2 bpm which is totally within a excellent tolerance). Did a ride with it this weekend while running Strava just to compare. Dead nuts on with the exception of the calories burned, watch was about 200cal less. It paired flawlessly with my Garmin speed & cadence sensors. I only looked at it on long waits at lights so I would say for somebody who likes to just ride but review the data afterwards, this is the way to go.
